The Golden Age Project FC3 bases its design on classic microphone models, with its large-diaphragm and gold-sputtered capsule at its centre. It uses a low-noise F.E.T. as an amplifying device ensures a strong and defined sound at any sound level. It boasts a wide frequency range and high SPL of 140dB, making it ideal for a range of sound sources. It also boasts discrete Class-A electronics with a vintage-sounding EQ and transformer balanced output stage for a classic sound. The result is a silky high-end response with a defined and powerful low end that can be used for a variety of recording applications.

Studio-Grade Instrument/Vocal Recordings

The premium-grade components coupled with the extended frequency response ensures optimal audio fidelity when recording. This is ideal for capturing studio-grade vocal and instrument recordings, captured in immense detail. The sound character of the microphone is similar to that of vintage microphones. The most unique feature of the microphone is the integrated polar pattern switch. This three-position switch allows you to toggle between different polar patterns to cater to varying recording environments. The three patterns are comprised of Cardioid, Omni and Figure-8. The cardioid pickup pattern is ideal for vocal recordings, providing excellent off-axis rejection. The omnidirectional pattern picks up sound from all around the microphone, making it ideal for use as drum overhead or for recording vocal groups. The Figure-8 pattern can be useful for duets and tw-source recordings.

Design & Construction

In addition to its flexible recording capabilities, the FC3 Condenser Microphone also looks sleek, with its brushed metal finish. The rugged heavy-duty brass body, is designed to minimise superficial damage while protecting the capsule and other components whilst in use. The front of the microphone features a three-position switch for easily switching between polar pattern. It also features an external switch for the pad. It boasts an integrated pop shield and windscreen designed to minimise sibilance and plosive noises for improved audio fidelity. The gold-plated XLR connector ensures optimal signal integrity for reliable audio quality. Additionally, the microphone comes complete with a robust shock-mount, designed to isolate your microphone from unwanted vibrations.
